Confirmation class is an opportunity for students in 8th grade or above to explore the meaning of church membership, deepen their own faith, and explore their relationship with God, the congregation, and the class.

Weekly meetings are held immediately following worship every Sunday, from September through May. During this year the intention is to give our teenagers a glimpse of the joys and responsibilities of church membership. This is a time to learn more about their faith and discover what role the church can/might play in their lives. It’s a chance to ask lots of questions and explore who they are and what they believe at this moment.

The confirmation year is a “hands on” time of faith exploration. Over the course of the year, students will read and discuss Bible stories, learn about our denomination and visit churches of other denominations, go away on retreats, work with individually assigned mentors (adult members of our congregation), participate in worship, and be involved with outreach and volunteer opportunities at the church. The culmination of their year of study is the preparation of their own worship service, which they design and lead for our congregation in the Spring.

Members of the class that choose to join the church as members are confirmed on Pentecost Sunday in the Spring.
